This explains what data VVC Skald Bot ("the bot") stores, why, and what happens to it. The bot is self-hosted by an individual operator, not run as a company or service with any data-sharing partners or advertisers.
To provide its features, the bot stores the following in its own database:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Discord server (guild) ID | To know which server a setting belongs to |
| Channel IDs you configure | To know where to post announcements |
| Role IDs you configure | For role pings and reaction roles / welcome roles |
| Twitch usernames / YouTube channel IDs you add | To check if they've gone live or posted a new video |
| Custom announcement or welcome message text you write | To post it when the relevant event happens |
| Reaction role panel message IDs and emoji-role mappings | To grant the right role when someone reacts |
If you log into the web dashboard, the bot temporarily holds your Discord user ID, username, avatar, and which servers you can manage in a login session (a browser cookie). This session data is not written to the database — it lives only in server memory and automatically expires after 7 days or when you log out.
To check for live streams, new videos, and free games, the bot makes outgoing requests to the following services on a timer. These requests use publicly available data (e.g. "is this Twitch username currently live") — the bot doesn't authorize into your Twitch, YouTube, or Google account, and none of these services receive any of your Discord data:
You're in control of this data at all times:
Data is stored in a database on the operator's own server — not a third-party cloud service, not distributed to other parties. Reasonable security measures are used, but as with any online service, no method of storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
The bot follows Discord's own age requirements. It's not intended for use by anyone who doesn't meet Discord's eligibility requirements, and no data is knowingly collected outside the context of normal bot operation on a Discord server.
You can request details of what's stored for your server, or request early deletion, at any time using the contact details below — though as noted above, removing the bot from your server already deletes everything automatically.
This policy may be updated as the bot's features change. Significant changes will be noted where practical (e.g. an announcement in the bot's support server).
